More than 34,000 farmers in Uganda planted a new hybrid variety of sunflower seed, which yielded double the oil content per acre, increased the farmers’ household incomes by nearly 30 percent, and resulted in a collective net earning of more than $3.7 million over three years.

» Tax reforms help both government and businesses in Mongolia
Using innovative outreach efforts to both policy makers and the public, the Economic Policy Reform and Competitiveness project helped to create a more favorable environment for tax reform. As a result, more Mongolians are joining the formal economy and government and businesses both are able to increase revenues.
 
» One-stop shop speeds business growth in Albania
As part of its efforts to reduce corruption, the Millennium Challenge Albania Threshold Agreement project helped the Government of Albania to create the National Registration Center to speed business registration. Now local entrepreneurs and foreign investors alike are benefiting from transparent, efficient, and customer-friendly services — leaving them to concentrate on growing their businesses.
 
» Kiosks speed access to legal information in Russia
Part of a larger effort to promote efficiency and automation in court administration, new information kiosks are reducing the time Russians spend waiting in line for assistance by allowing them to get the information they need quickly and easily themselves.

» Chemonics announces key organizational changes
President and CEO Richard Dreiman has announced the creation of a new unit dedicated to Afghanistan and Pakistan operations; Tim Beans named to lead new division. In addition, the company plans to integrate health programs into each of its geographical units.
